ZJWEU Was Invited to Participate in the 2nd Lancang - Mekong Water Resources Cooperation Forum

On December 7, ZJWEU was invited to participate in the Lancang - Mekong Water Resources Cooperation Forum. Li Guoying, the minister of Ministry of Water Resources of China and the ministers of Water Resources of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and Thailand attended the opening ceremony.

This forum was hosted by the Ministry of Water Resources of China, with the theme of Addressing Challenges Together and Promoting Common Development, aiming at sharing experiences in water management, promoting regional water cooperation, implementing the water-related goals of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and jointly building a Community with a shared future for countries around Lancang and Mekong River”. This forum was an important action to implement the consensus reached by the Third Leaders' Meeting of the Lancang - Mekong Cooperation and one of the series of activities to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the launch of the Lancang - Mekong Cooperation.

During the two-day forum, the main topics were focused following: water resources protection and green development, integrated water resources management and climate change response, water resources and livelihood improvement in rural areas, sustainable hydropower development and energy security, transboundary river cooperation and information sharing, and water governance and the mission for the youth for countries around Lancang and Mekong River. The Forum would also release the Beijing Initiative of 2nd Lancang - Mekong Water Resources Cooperation Forum.
